I’m not sure if you are already aware, but your posts look completely misformatted in Google reader – dahhh!

Of course I just have to click through to see what’s going on 🙂 You are always entertaining, with great advice.

I’m finishing my 90% complete issue of Pensieri today… so it won’t be hanging over my head…ahhh!!!

  • Kim says:

Terrific tips today, how did you know I was in overload mode??? I bet you already know what one thing I need to focus on-finishing my new product line one item at a time and yes, I need to stop spending so much time researching everything on the Internet. Wishing you tons of cupcakes for sharing these three amazing ideas with the whole wide world!

  • Allisa says:

Brilliant Mayi! Thanks for the wake up call….
I always do the little, easy things first and then have the big, amazing, super cool projects waiting…almost looming over.

I know I should be tackling them first…so thanks for the shove in that direction 😉

  • Valerie says:

Thank you thank you for reading my mind! I’ve been stuck for a couple of months now and the backlog of all my ideas and action items seem like a giant mountain now. I WILL march onward. 🙂

My one big thing to do today is not fun or exciting, but necessary: clean the house. Because if my house is cluttered, my mind is cluttered and I can’t move forward on the FUN stuff.

  • Bee says:

Great tip today and I didn’t know I was having an email convo with a star. I am in the overload mode. Stuck on which way to go with my line without an artist. Will email you. Have a day filled with cupcakes!

  • Jessika says:

I just love you more and more every week-didn’t think it was possible! I visit you every Friday & spend time catching up on what I missed over the week-so happy to hear you visit us to catch up too! I I am the one always leaping at the big ideas & planning 1-10 years ahead I have trouble focusing on those little tasks-so I’m working on hiring them out so I can keep doing those big leaps with less time spent on admin. Thank you as always for reminding me that all these ideas are a good thing-provided I can follow through on them.
    LOVE you!

  • Alicia says:

I will spend one hour pulling together my tax paperwork and getting it organized.

Not only does this need to get done, it will take a huge weight off my shoulders! 😉

    Thanks,Mayi! 🙂

  • Christine Grove says:

Heeyyy! Have you been spying on me?!? Ok, so I have the card/notepad/print designs, now I just gotta put them together. And one thing that’s holding me up now is the logo/packaging. (then having to think about pricing) but today I promise to do the darn logo!! Settle on an image and GET IT DONE. Stupid pressure-things are never set in stone. Nor do they have to be prefect. I should tattoo those somewhere on my person. Shared your page, I totally love seeing Friday Video Time in my inbox!!

  • Gayle says:

Thank you for help giving me the OK to move on. I was drowning in free stuff. I am so happy with your words today. Freedom, freedom is on it’s way. Thanks.

  • Srinivas says:

Thanks for the shotout Mayi. I love your videos. I think we might have to have you come to one of our live chats or we might need to develop a masterclass product on doing video. I’ll actually email you about that.

Now on some of the things you’ve mentioned here, I’ve got plenty to say. The part on investing in yourself is so true. AS we talked about, putting some skin in the game completely changes things. The other thing I’ve realized is that small ideas add up over time.

So my one thing, get in touch with you about doing a video related product :).

  • Jeannie says:

Great advice because I have a serious love/hate relationship with all the free stuff. So, instead of Googling how to find the time to do my taxes, I’ll just go do them.

  • Debbie says:

Have we met….because you have just described me to a T!!! Looking into joining your bootcamp! I just opened an Arts and Crafts Studio…and I feel paralyzed at how to organize all of my thoughts and ideas and put them into classes to share!!!

  • Filipa says:

hey, you just find out what was hapening with me…..before I do! 🙂
So in the next hour will finish a toy pattern I am imagining for days and days…

  • Aimee Prezzano says:

You know that I have fallen in love with you, Mayi!

Okay, so, I am focusing on ONE THING today — a big thing — to re-write the copy on the site to really represent “my why” . It may change in the future, but I need to write what I truly believe is the “Real Aimee” and not worry about specific future products, or monetization…… just need to focus on that something is broken, clients hire me/come to me with questions….and the specific business model will evolve. Letting go of my perfectionism and marketing degree (“This is how you are supposed to do it” hat) is crucial today.

  • Cathy says:

From our e-mail exchange you know you are trully talking to me on this one! Loads of ideas, loads of research (although not so much looking for freebies), loads of talk… little action!

Well, but that’s all changing bit by bit. I’ve already started it up, making some necessary contacts and tackling the house clutter problem. Today (or yet, this weekend) is still time to do it. We’re finally (after 2 years) giving a proper look to our spare room and unpacking and selecting stuff we still had in boxes. And believe me, this was a big one to tackle!!!

  • Mariana Páscoa says:

You have to be a mind reader!
well i was strugeling with myself over a new product i’m developing and i had this idea of making to diferent thing one for girls and the other for boys. I’ve decided earlier that i should start by the girl one and i’ve been working on it, but someone asked me for the boy version so I got stuck here trying to get both done at the same time.
Now i’ll focus on the girly version first as i’m almost over with the pattern and them i’ll get to the other. Thank you so much!

  • Haroulla says:

    Mayi, you rock!

I’m going to finish off my logo design! 😀 it’s looking good so far!! Xoxo

  • mayicarles says:

Linda: I know 🙁 I’m working on it with my webmaster. It’s a bug. On it. Thanks for letting me know.

Yayy for 10% more to go!

  • mayicarles says:

Kim: I’ve been told I can read minds 🙂

The cupcakes have been received + devoured! And you are SO loved 🙂

  • mayicarles says:

Allisa: Speaking of wake up calls, I remember when I was little + my parent took me to Disney World, Mickey Mouse actually did the phone wake up calls… made me fall in love with the whole concept LOL. Glad this was a sweet kick in the pants 🙂

  • mayicarles says:

Valerie: Clean the house. Hmmmm… I see is there anyway we can make that exciting? Can you clean the house in your undies while air jamming to your favorite tunes? I bet there’s something you can do to make cleaning FUN!

  • mayicarles says:

Jessika: Are you kidding… Oh My is my second home in the interwebs I need to visit, like one would a summer house they loved hehehe. Hip hip hooray for 1-10 GRAND plans of epicness. I adore you too my friend 🙂

  • Linda_Sparkman says:

The “one year from now” advice hit me good and hard. What am I doing trying to do this business thingy? I am a writer. I AM a writer. I am a WRITER. I better get my stuff out there, and stop learning all this great business stuff!!! Well, could it just be a hobby? If so, how much time should I devote to it, as opposed to writing? I need to know. P L E A S E

  • lakshmi says:

Hi my friend , how r ya ? Great tips. I especially love the part about getting the big stuff out of the way. Especially if they are cumbersome . I always do those first.. because once I get the big ones done ( cumbersome or not), I always feel good and the lil ones seem oh- so easy to tackle later.
Love the music + dance session at the end:)

  • mayicarles says:

Bee: Awww stop it! OK don’t (wink). E-mailing back right now!

  • mayicarles says:

Alicia: Taxes can be ugly but once they’re done it feels like Christmas. So worth it, isn’t it?

  • mayicarles says:

Christine Grove: Hmm well just a little hehehe 🙂 By the way post-it’s work just as effectively as tattoos LOL 🙂

Totally love seeing your comment in my admin!

  • mayicarles says:

Gayle: “drowning in free stuff” Oh man I wish I would have phrased it like that, it’s freaking genius!

  • mayicarles says:

Srini: I’m in for live chats + masterclasses.

“The other thing I’ve realized is that small ideas add up over time.” That’s an interesting way of putting it. I usually talk about BIG ideas + BIG projects + deconstructing them into bite size manageable chunks… BUT I hadn’t considered the smaller, possibly less transcendental things in accumulation. Hhhhmm… are you pondering what I’m pondering Pinky? I think it’s time to make a video about this revelation! HA!

  • mayicarles says:

Jeannie: YESSSSSSSS! You got it. Fast learner you smarty pants you 🙂

  • mayicarles says:

Debbie: Maybe we are like soul sisters or something 🙂

Let me know if you have any questions about Life is Messy Bootcamp. I would love to see you inside.

  • mayicarles says:

Filipa: YAYYY I love it when I can pull that off 🙂

Hope the toy handmade factory is going fab!

  • mayicarles says:

Aimee: And I adore you more sweatheart! By the way I LOVEEEEEE your ONE BIG THING! I’m SO EXCITED to see how the WHY turns out! Let me know when it’s ready so I can take a peak please 🙂

  • Lorrie says:

    Hello Mayi!

Thanks for your excellent tips today. I will work on your tip # 3 – to work on just one thing today. I’m on my way upstairs to attack the clutter in my attic that’s been there for months. The idea of cleaning and fixing has been giving me headaches – but listening to you today has motivated me to start doing what needs doing.

    Thanks a lot!

  • jojoebi says:

some great tips as usual, I am going to concentrate and finish that bottle of wine over there on the table! One a more serious note, Monday I am going to get that paperwork done that I have been putting off for like, forever!

a little side note, the background music you had on todays video was rather distracting, not sure if was the actual music or the level, do you usually have music in your videos? Thought you might want to know, now, where is my wine glass…

ps – got your to do lists this week, super cute, too cute to write on!

  • mayicarles says:

Cathy: So happy to hear Cathy! Keep up the GREAT work!

  • mayicarles says:

Mariana: Girl first. Boy second. Sounds like a FAB plan to me 🙂

  • mayicarles says:

    Haraulla: No. YOU rock!

  • mayicarles says:

Linda: Sure it could just be a hobby? Or do you really want it to be something more? First you have to figure that out + THEN all the rest will fall into place with short + long term vision planning. If you need help, send me an e-mail.

  • mayicarles says:

Lakshmi: When are you going to come to Panama to film a music video girl? I’m waiting! LOL

  • mayicarles says:

Lorrie: I totally see what you mean. Outer clutter creates inner chaos + ultimately leads to anxiety + stress. On the flip side, when you remove the mess + distractions, you bring peace + make room for your BIG + even LITTLER ideas. You can do it!

  • mayicarles says:

Jojoebi: Awww so happy you loved the To Do Pads. About the soundtrack music. I;ve been experimenting a lot lately with my videos + thought the soundtrack music was a special touch + added more feeling to the content. I really appreciate the feedback though + will consider it for future video editing 🙂 I surely don’t want to do something that’s distracting from the meat 🙂

  • Sasha says:

Great video and tips! My problem is always focusing on one thing so today, I’m just going to focus on making a birthday card for my father-in-law!

  • Tabassum says:

LUUUH-VED IT! Your telepathic powers are geting stronger by the day…hahaah. How did you know I was in work paralysis?

I think as multi-passionate ppl., we never have a shortage of ideas and things to do, it’s just the actually “doing” part that sends me to my bed hiding under the covers.

I need to post these simple powerful points to my forehead to keep me on track because I want this year to be a game-changing one for me, I can’t have a repeat of last year. And speaking of investing in my future, can I still sign up for Life is Messy in March?

  • Hillary says:

Ten seconds into watching one of your videos I said to myself “This girl is so cute and clever!” Mayi, thank you for providing the info and inspiration that you do in such a fun and encouraging way! I’m so glad I found your super cute blog. Thank you for being you and happy Valentine’s Day!

  • francesca says:

Mayi!…you are not a fairy, you’re a WITCH! How did you figure out all my weak points?? ;)))Thank you soooooo much;)love to you”
