An Oh My! Magical Interview with Party Girl Jessika Hepburn

Heads up. Friday Video Time today is little different than my usual bubbly Mayi solo shows.

To culminate my blogaversary month I wanted to wrap thing up with a Grand Finale, standing ovation style, so I decided to turn to my dear friend Jessika Hepburn from Oh My! Handmade Goodness for help, not only because she’s also blowing her first inny mini blog candle, but because I adore her to pieces + her tsunamic kindness filled with divine wisdom too.

But don’t worry. There will still be funky party props involved + a whole lotta fun business + life advice.

Here are just a few highlights from this amazing heart to heart:

  • Why REALLY caring is the only way to go.
  • How to pull in a community like a T-Rex magnet.
  • How to juggle between the happy moments + the ugly parts.
  • A heartfelt talk about the culture of discount.
  • Why there can’t be a one-size fits all magic blueprint.
  • And a whole lot more.

i would love it if you

1. Left a comment below letting us know your fave insight from this interview.

2. Shared this vid’ with your friends. If someone deserves to be spread virally is my girl Jessika. The world needs more of her contagious beauty.

3. Followed Jessika near + far. Please do. You will be giving yourself the greatest gift of all. My favorite way to connect with Jessika is via twitter @ohmyhandmade, but also on the Oh My! Handmade Goodness blog + Worthsy site too.

4. Got a copy of Jessika’s new book Cultivate Your Creativity. (This is not an affiliate link. I’m just seriously in love with it).

Jessika is a smart cookie. I really enjoyed this video.

  • Linda Sparkman says:

Nice diversion for me (I’m a skeptic) anyway you ladies are great. Hey, that nice Jessica stole (well, used might be more accurate) my words, “Cultivate Creativity” (see http://www.sparkworksanddesigns.com) But, she is putting them to wonderful use. I’m sure she will do them justice! I just hope there’s money in being nice…just where’s the money??? (Kidding) Keep having fun and sharing it!
    Love, Mrs. Sparkman

  • Marie Noelle says:

Awww thanks for the shout outs, guys! Perfect for brightening up my Friday afternoon – your lovely faces, your dead-on insights about this work we’re all doing, and the compliments just put it over the top! Even though I am not making it to the even in NY, if you’re both there I might sneak up and try and catch you for some coffee (or cupcakes)!

  • Alicia says:

you too talking about creativity just being yourselves totally put a smile of my face! thank you for being you! πŸ™‚

  • Dana says:

OMG you guys are so damn cute! you both are so sweet and have infectious energy… you make me wanna work and be involved in so much like you are! and you made me cry you’re so sweet!
I am starting a new business (that i think will fit w/ OMHG very well) and know I will get far by following you both.
My “other” business I have put on the back burner for awhile, because… my handbags take a long time to make (too hard w/ a job and 2 kids) and are expensive, and I don’t want to back down on the price to a “discount” price… so during the video I went and signed up for Worthsy!!!!!! You guys just made my day a perfect ending and I hope to get to know you both much, mush better =)
    Happy anniversary to you both!

  • Dana says:

did i post twice? whoops, sorry, excited trigger finger =)

  • Allyn says:

Hi Mayi, you have such great enthusiasm, plus a fascinating background!

  • lakshmi says:

OOOh so excited to see Jessika over here. I love her & omhg ! I was following it before Jessika took over & she has worked her butt off to get it from good to super super awesome ! Congratulations on all that you have done.
My only problem with the twitter parties – they happen when I sleep ! darn ..some other time πŸ™‚
Go on both of you and spread your magic all over the world !

  • Jessika (oh my! handmade) says:

Aw thank you all SO much-I’m blushing up a storm: ) I look forward to getting to know you all better here & on OMHG!

@Marie-I want to be everyone’s friend (usually) so I am happy that comes across. Nothing makes me happier then hearing/sharing with friends.

@Zoe PLEASE DO! I’ll play hooky from the fancy event to hang out with you but we have a date in SLC in January too: )

@Dana-YAY! Worthsy is on a little break until September while we rally the troops but I am so glad you are checking it out! I can’t wait to hear what your new business is, be sure to keep in touch!

@Allyn great to connect, hope you love OMHG!

@Lakshmi-Thank you!!! You are such a wonderful supporter & I value your comments/tweets so very much! we could hold an evening edition of #OMHG so you could make it sweetie? Maybe instead of tea we could do a Saturday night drinks version; )

  • mayicarles says:

Zoe: It’s true. You’re a SUPERSTAR + we adore you. I really hope we could all have a weekend get together in some part of the globe to transform the virtual hugs into a real life bonanza of amazingness! That’s just GOT to happen! SOON!

  • jennifer h. says:

What a nice post. You 2 are so good together. I really enjoyed watching & learning some new stuff. I’ve got a lonnnnggg way to go. lol

  • Carrie says:

Great interview!! I’ve been following BOTH your blogs lately and have found them to be inspirational!
My favorite part about this interview is to embrace both the happy moments and sad ones. ..to “allow” yourself to be sad and to feel all your emotions. To know that we all have our ups & downs and that it’s just a part of life.
