Brilliant Ways To Make More Money

Sometimes, I daydream about playing Monopoly + throwing all the toy money up high in the air, confetti style. Angelical new age-y music jamming in the background.

That’s why I really work my “touchy” off to make this creative everything work, cuz no bank + no law firm + no nothing would ever want to hire this crazy pajama pants.

If you’re trying to flee the cubicle too (virtual high fives my friend) + T-Rex-size your money-making potential so you never have to look back… STOP, collaborate + listen, Mayi’s back with a brand new invention… (aka Friday Video Time).

There will be no soul-searching sentimentalism today. Sorry! Only gold dolla’ sunnies + Rhinoceros-sized bills + brilliant ideas to make more M-O-N-E-Y. Asking your parents for a “loan” not included.

I started an etsy/storenvy shops (with the same items, since it’s fre to list on storenvy) with party printable sets but haven’t seen any sales yet– and as you know, they’re so time-consuming to make!

I think I’m going to keep trying the printables, at least for major holidays… but I really want to create either ebooks or ecourses. My biggest challenge is figuring out topics to talk about that haven’t been done a million times already! Do you have any advice for that?

Also, this is my first time de-lurking, so I have to say- I love your videos! So much personality! 🙂

  • Ginger says:

Can’t wait to see the download. I really wish I could do your boot camp I’m getting closer.
    Thank you!

  • Melissa says:

I havent used myself any ot this ways to make some extra income. It looks nice and like a good complement to your main sources of income. I will think about licensing and advertising!

Mayi! This is exactly what I need right now- how did you know?! Hubby will be so happy to see my plan on paper 🙂

After going through BSchool and thinking long and hard I have finally FINALLY figured out what direction I am heading. Now it’s time to brainstorm some beginning offerings and this is the perfect, pretty, unintimidating way to do that. Muchas gracia amiga!!

    • Mayi Carles says:

AYYY!!! Hubby’s love it when we are on fire with our world domination missions right? Keep me posted on how it goes. Gracias a ti amiga 🙂

  • McKella says:

Right now I’m selling products, and I want to add lots more of those in the future, but I’m toying with the idea of subscriptions as well once I have several digital products and possibly a forum up and running. And you have more funny glasses than and 12 people I know. That’s quite a collection!

    • Mayi Carles says:

Sounds exiting. Have you seen what Going Home To Roost is doing. Pretty awesome stuff with subscriptions. Take a look for inspiration 🙂

  • Kim Gosney says:

    Best video EVER…
I added a new revenue stream this year for 2013. I am using my creativity to design custom clip art + I’m having so much fun. I never thought I could do it, but I gave it a HUGE great big leap + after getting over some serious fear about my new talent I posted my stuff on Etsy + to my delight I have now had my 9th sale. It’s so much fun that I can’t stop creating to even go to sleep. 🙂 YAY!!!

  • Mayi, once again you have taken something I “kind of new but never took the time to really think about” and turned it into an AH-Ha moment for me! LOVE your work and can’t wait to do your bootcamp xx Thanks for the great info and printable 🙂

    • Mayi Carles says:

If I can create one AH-HA moment with an episode I’m a happy women hehehe. Thanks for letting me know this was special for you. You have no idea how much it means to me.

thanks for the run down and reminder of a few different ways to make more money. I will be on a brain bursting idea-thon to figure out what will be the next move.

  • Amanda says:

Hi Mayi! Loved all of the glasses!!! I’m going to stick with just making products. With opening up my 5th (and FINAL) etsy shop I’m diversifying to different markets since each shop has different types of handmade products and able to do all of my artistic loves in one swoop. I’ve thought about doing digi products, but then I wouldn’t be able to get my hands messy and play with my toys…um I mean serious crafting tools 🙂 Anyway, thanks for anothe awesome Friday Video Time!!

    • Mayi Carles says:

I went to a wedding recently + stacked up on the party glasses hehehehe!

WOOOWWW 5th shop. I can barely keep up with one. You are Wonder Woman. How do you do it! I need to learn your kung fu moves!

  • Andrea says:

Hi Mayi! Great glasses as always!… I’m currently selling products but I’m getting a bit tired of it…I think I want to sell digital products, seems like a great way to gain a little more freedom. I’ve been thinking about licencing my creative work too.
Ok, I’ve done my homework! Yey!!

    Mucho love from Mexico!

  • Dominika says:

    Hi Mayi!
great video! I will play it few more times to remember everything 🙂
    Have you got my card?

  • Holly says:

Funniest FVT yet! I’ve been trying different products to try and up my income but your video made me think that using the most successful products in different revenue streams, (I learned something!) might be the answer. Thanks for the awesome video!

    • Mayi Carles says:

I love making people laugh. Maybe I was a clown in another life. But don’t you agree it makes this whole creative business thing fun + like, not boring at all?

  • Jane says:

Loved this video, it made me laugh. I’ve not got a business going at the moment, apart from a few things I’ve made on etsy (no sales yet) but you’ve certainly given me food for thought. http://www.etsy.com/shop/DaisyDonut

  • April Dawn says:

Great video, I just thought of a new product to generate income. Not sure if that was your idea or mine, but it came to me while laughing at your silly cupcake ways. 🙂

    • Mayi Carles says:

Your ideas my dear. I’m just hear to windshield whip the crap that’s on the way so you can see what’s been standing in front of you all along 🙂

  • Lisa says:

Hey Mayi! I love the video as always! I’ve started another income stream, by selling knitting patterns and I’m liking the results so far. I’m thinking about some others and I’ve got a question for you- you say you talk about this more in bootcamp, but is the info in the printables that are separate from bootcamp?

    • Mayi Carles says:

      Hi Lisa,

What do you mean if the info in the printables that are separate from bootcamp?

      • Lisa says:

I mean the pdfs that are $40 and then there is bootcamp.

        • Mayi Carles says:

OHHH great question Lisa. Thanks for clarifying! Life is Messy Bootcamp includes absolutely everything EVERYTHING. Even my 5K book. LIMB is my baby it has all of my most loved possessions 🙂 If you want to start with the Life is Messy Planners you can always upgrade + your $40 will be deducted with a special coupon that I provide inside. I like to keeps things fair + no-brainer like that.

  • I’ve been really trying to figure out how to free myself from the humdrum of the 9-5 world, and though I do currently make a little over $100 in AdSense revenue every other month (obviously NOT enough to quit my day job), this has really opened my eyes into the other ways to make money. I’m going to be putting my nose to the grindstone and trying to come up with some digital products to sell on Etsy, as well as FINALLY getting my subscription service up and running on my main money maker for AdSense: http://www.findkaraoketonight.com

You know, that site has been up and running since 2007, with the pricing info and everything, and I have YET to write the code to enable someone to actually purchase an upgraded slot…(shame on me!)

    • Mayi Carles says:

I’m not familiar with Ad Sense! Advertising is really not my cup of tea. I’m a little selfish in that I like to keep my community here + bonding + having cupcakes. I’m not really sure I’d like them to leave with external advertising. What I LOVE is internal adversing for your OWN products + services. Have you given that a try?

  • Lisa says:

Hi Mayi, Great video:) I’m planning on exploring 2 different areas of earning extra $$$ this year. I’ve set up shop on etsy at http://www.etsy.com/shop/ladesign where I’m selling printable party packages. I really need to increase my number products and start promoting it. I would also like to look into licensing my illustrations. Do you have any suggestions on getting into licensing? I feel a little lost on where to begin with that one.

    • Mayi Carles says:

YESSSS! First thing I would do is talk to a lawyer so they can help you write a contract that protects YOU + makes the client feel safe working with you. Yo gotta be + act legit + pro. That’s the first step. Second, I would simple add a page to your site to offer the service + show examples of previews work in action. If you don’t have examples you could reach out to 2-3 companies + offer your mojo for a test drive in exchange for pics + buzz + publicity, to get your licensing biz up + running. Does this help get you started?

  • Christina says:

At the moment I’m mainly selling digital products (knitting patterns) on different platforms. I also sell them as printed copies on craft shows and teach. One big new thing I’d like to try this year is offering an e-course.

  • April says:

This week’s video rocked! Such good information…I must admit that I didn’t know all those fancy terms! I’m so excited about our partnerships this year–it’s gonna be raining money. 🙂

  • Tara says:

I have had a pretty successful Etsy shop for the past 2 years selling birth announcement prints – almost 4000 sales! I just launched my personal website and now I’m thinking about opening up a second shop offering printables.. Trying to diversity on what I already have created as you said! Loved the video. Can’t wait to use your printable, thanks!

  • Thanks Mayi! Your videos always brighten my day, make me giggle and full of great ideas. I love how you keep it simple and fun. I just bought photoshop elements and I’m excited to get started making some digital things. This was the perfect video topic to get me motivated. Cheers!

  • Mariska says:

Hi Mayi! Thanks for your enthusiasm – awesome to see how much fun you’re having, I want to inject that into my stuff! I’m kind of shy, but want to connect with great people, create digital products (currently just finishing up a fitness/mindfulness ebook thingy) and have a location independant universe conquering income! thanks again for your encouragement 🙂 When I have a spare $97 (just finishing up a phd – bleurgh) I will be buying your ‘digital product in ya jarmies’ dealio!

  • I have been so wanting to branch out on revenue streams and this video was SO helpful! I have been thinking about the things to create, not necessarily the model, this is awesome 🙂 thank you, Mayi!

  • Hi, Mayi!

You’re adorable. This is one of my favorite videos. 🙂

I’m hoping to make money by creating a product or two. I have a few things in mind, one of which is a story book! I’m really excited about it and bought some materials to work on it today. I might even put together a Kickstarter to help me fund it… because it’s going to be really epic!

    Love and cupcakes,

    Sarah J. Sequins

Hahaha oh my goodness, I love watching these videos. The parts where I was called out for not clapping and multitasking were awesome. 🙂 Thanks for making me laugh while still providing some really helpful information. I never thought a video about revenue streams could be so fun.
