Darn This Feels Good
I love getting surprise packages in the mail. Well, not the kind where I receive unsolicited catalogs from a golf shop or a chair recliner store. More the kind where I get surprise cupcake recipe books + it feels like my birthday.
So, the other day I received an unexpected package. It was a beautifully hand-crafted letter from a lovely reader + client + friend. Her name is Michelle Ainslie (you rock lady!). It made me so so so incredible happy that it got me thinking, “Darn it feels good to be acknowledged.” You know the feeling, right? When someone manages to brighten your day with a dash of appreciation or a pinch of praise. Wicked.
Everyone likes to be acknowledged. It’s true. We love to have our e-mail returned. We love to be told when we’re doing a good job. We love to be thanked for our acts of kindness. We love to have our creativities appreciated. We love to be reminded that we’re special. Don’t we?

Hi dear Mayi, Don’t panic! You are my favorite baby! Lol , I have the same issue with my husband just because he used to have red hair and his face was like a chocolate chip cookie full of freckles. I just hided all his pictures (don’t tell him: P)
Once again an amazing video, i love your videos by the way, you always make me wonder if I should be afraid of the camera or my accent. I believe acknowledge other people.. It is being grateful for have them in our lives. Each client, friend, neighbor, family member… etc. is touching our life in a different way. We have to acknowledge them and be tankful with the universe for being part of it.
Once again Mayi, thank you for being there, for keeping me company during my Friday breakfast … Thank you for the knowledge, advice and great energy that you share with us.

*giggle* It’s so true! We all like to be acknowledged. I love the vendors at my Farmer’s Market — especially the blueberry lady — she makes my smoothie fab – everyday with her fab blueberries! And the flower lady who makes bouquets with what grows on her land — sunflowers, zinnias and other pretty flowers. Her bouquets are gorgeous and natural and she ALWAYS has a sunny disposition!

I wanted to send you a thank you e-mail for SO LONG, but I though OH NO this is too special I have to save this for a Friday Video Time episode hehehe. So happy you like it. And even happier that you picked me (no pressure) as your favorite baby hehehehehehe!
So here is one for you – I learned of you awhile back from Srini Rao and Bernardo Mendez and have been following the wonderful work you do not only in your business but what you create through Friday Video Time. This month I have been participating in a project on YouTube called VEDA (Vlogging Everyday in August) and watching your videos, especially your Vlogging 101 series – with the How I Found My Voice video being the icing on the cake – has been hugely supportive in my video growth and improvement throughout this month. I will be launching a weekly web interview show in October coupled with a weekly personal video and after completing this VEDA project and seeing the magic you create with your weekly videos I know it is not only doable – but I am excited about the fun I will create in the process. You are so right about the power of acknowledgement. Yesterday I received a comment on Blacksburg Belle from an artist that I’ve loved from the moment I learned about mixed media painting. I was thrilled that she left a comment–it made me feel good all day even though I think I have the flu.
Somebody in my life who deserves acknowledgement is my husband. He has been taking really good care of me while I haven’t been feeling well. The best acknowledgement I could give him is to encourage him to go golfing this weekend. That’s one of favorite ways to spend his time, but he doesn’t do it when he feels like he has a bunch of other obligations. So, if I clean the house while he goes golfing, he’ll have a really good weekend and he’ll feel appreciated.
I’ve seen it with my own eyes! Kris really is amazingly supportive of all things April. I hope he gets to go golfing this weekend. He deserves it.
OMG + I absolutely know what you means about people you admire leaving praise! Makes you feel like a total rockstar. Hold on to that thought lady because you deserve every last ounce of praise

Oh Mayi, for me this is one of key point that make our live electrifying + full of energy. I don’t mean just when I get compliments but even when I’m grateful to the people I meet. I think this is a amazing opportunity to LIVE, and for me “live” is “bring out my heart to touch another heart”. In this way we have the oppotunity to give birth to positive and magic+mysterious+power energy that carry up all word. The best way to get love is give love!
I love thank all people that open their hearts with me, and fortunately there are many, they are my medicine:)

My husband came into the room while I was listening to the Friday Video and wondered WHAT I was listening to because I had a big smile on my face. That is what you do to me each Friday! Funny that your topic was just something I had recently done. I really screwed up big time and my one life-long friend stood by me always. I happened to see a card that said all the things that I wanted to say to her, so I sent it to her and right before I listened to you, my friend called to thank me. She isn’t one to cry but a few tears were shed. You are right, it feels just as good to say THANK YOU as to receive a THANK YOU.
