You would think that as an obsessive compulsive organizer I have the Holiday’s in the bag, right? Well, that would be true if a had a pinch of tolerance for shopping malls + traffic jams + Panamanian taxis’. Unlucky for me, I don’t. That complicates thing. A lot. Specially, in the gift giving department.

So what’s a gift giving aficionada to do? Santa has Rudolf. I have printables. Aleluya!

If you give me 4:37 minutes of your time I’ll show you exactly, step-by-step, how to make this gift giving season one to remember. Stress not included.

Hi Mayi, thanks for the planner! It’s really a great idea : )
I usually have lots of gifts to give – so I make some myself. This year I am making therapeutic rice bags and fabric pencilcase rolls.
Wish you a lovely holiday season : )

  • Mariaan says:

I love your video and gift planner thanks for sharing. I am making greeting card planners with a little gift planner on the back of each calender page. Hope you don’t mind me borrowing your idea of totalling it all up as I am now considering adding a budget planner in the back to tally up the totals for each month so to keep a running tally of how much get spend on gift through out the year. Will post photo’s on my blog soon.

    • Mayi Carles says:

Budget is such an important component isn’t it? Fell free to borrow + thanks for asking, that’s super classy of you + greatly appreciate it. Make sure to come link to your offer so we can help you spread the word.

  • Your free printables are always adorable Mayi! Thanks for making them and sharing with us!
This one will be super lovely to use to organize gifts and budgets :)

    • Mayi Carles says:

Awwww Irene thank you + thank you. I hope it keeps your gifts tidy + budget-friendly this season. Any special sites you will be shopping this season?

  • Mariana says:

Hi Mayi. This year Xmas will have less presents than the ones before. Portugal is going thru a major economic chrisis and so most of the portuguese saw their monthly incomes reduce. So this year there will only be presents for the kids arround my family but that aint’ make us less happy! Anyway I always like to hand make my gifts and this year I’ll be baking Xmas cookies with my 2 and my 5 years old grls. We’ll have lots of fun. And my 2 months old niece will get a wonderful hand made by her proud aut quilt!

    • Mayi Carles says:

I hear you sister. I have family in Portugal + know how hard this time is for most families. I’m still super happy to hear you are sweetening the situation with cookies. There is no better gift than family + baking together :)

  • Migdalia says:

    Hi Mayi!
thank you! for your gift. =)
    simple, and important things !

and also for the life is messy bootcamp videos for life .

yesterday, I was listening the burn out (even though I’m not done, just checking if they work) and my god daughter, who”s 19 years old and legally blind, passed and step beside me and remain fascinated listening to you, and said…wao! she speaks very well and nice.
    =)

Thanks Mayi! You really do think of everything. And this year, I totally need it. I have the budget for some gifts, as we save a little bit every month for Christmas, but I truly have no clue what to get anyone at all. Even my kiddo! I too HATE shopping centers during the holidays. I hate traffic. All of it is out of the question. So I have to go either the online route (which means I need to figure it out soon!) or homemade… well, which also means I need to figure it out soon. None of the gift-giving ideas are sparking any lightbulbs… guess we’ll see what happens. Regardless, thank you… and Good Luck on your own gift-giving endeavors!

  • Alicia says:

What a great idea! Some friends are getting together to make peanut butter fudge for our peanut loving friends and other handmade goodies! ;)

    • Mayi Carles says:

OMG my mouth is watering Alicia. You have to share the recipe if you can. Hubby LOVESSSS peanut butter + chocolate :)

      • Amanda Sue says:

That is so funny!!!! My husband does too! He can’t control himself around peanut butter fudge or anything Reese’s. lol.

  • Sarah says:

I’m making a bunch of crocheted items for gifts this year. Plus I bought my hubby a new jacket for our Michigan winters… but then he told me he was going to go to the store & buy one & I was like NOOOOOOOOOO! He made me give it to him early by pouting & saying “but I’m soooo cold!!!” Gah!

I’m having a cookie exchange with friends, so that’ll be a great time too :)

    • Mayi Carles says:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I’m in the floor laughing. Can you see me hehehehehehe? I went to kindergarden in Michigan, Ann Arbor. My mom was going to law school at the time at U of Michigan. Have the most wonderful memories even though I was so so little. Smells + pines + snow.

  • Thanks for this amazing gift planning sheet :) Great addition to your wonderful planners. xo

  • Amanda Sue says:

The gift that I’m excited about is for my mom. When I was born, my parents were living in New Mexico. In the fall and winter, all you can smell is piñon. People are burning piñon incense and piñon firewood, an my mother misses that smell. When she moved from New Mexico, she had an incense burner in the shape of an adobe house, but as the years went buy a curious child accidentally dropped it, and it broke.

This year, I found the exact adobe house burner that she used to have, and I bought her some piñon incense to burn in it. She’s really going to be excited. :)

    • Mayi Carles says:

You are soooooo going to ROCK THIS GIFT Amanda. Mom’s are always hard to give presents too. They have to “mean” something don’t they? But this year at least you NAILED IT! I’m giving my mom some handmade coasters because she bought herself a super pretty marmot coffee table + because the marmot absorbs everything it’s likely to get stained soon + she’s been looking for something special for coasters :) I hope to surprise her!

      • Amanda Sue says:

I think you nailed it too!!!!! But I confess you have me stumped! Normally, I think of myself as fairly clever…but you have stumped me this time. :D The only marmot I know of, is a small animal related to the squirrel…what is a marmot coffee table? I’d love to see what these coffee tables look like!

        • Mayi Carles says:

I meant to say marmol, for the first time I feel like a can really blame my spell check because I didn’t even now what a marmot was hehehe. You know, marmol, like gravity? It’s a natural stone.

  • siren says:

this is so sweet! thank you!
i’ve just started planning my presents – a few of them are going to be scrabble tiles with their initial surrounded with beads – as necklaces or keychains if they’re not the necklace type :)

  • Nearly every gift I’m giving this year is handmade. Anything not handmade was thrifted – like some very cool books. The most exciting gift I’m giving is an E.T. doll i had to make a pattern for and figure out. We had to give away my daughter’s HUGE ET doll when we moved when she was a kid. She mentioned it yesterday (because i showed her a pic of ET at the wax museum in LA that i took on my way back to see the kids for Christmas) not realizing i made one for her for Christmas this year. She’ll be tickled pink! I never do the retail thing. I don’t buy mass market stuff. Never have.

    • Mayi Carles says:

OMG I loveeeeee this. I lovedddd ET when I was little have a little pic + everything in my night stand wearing my washed-off ET t-shirt. Timeless. You are going to make your daughter the HAPPIEST in the planet :)

  • Love this Mayi! I’m planning on making snow-globes and ornaments as gifts this year. When you’re on a budget, handmade gifts are more special.

  • Jennifer P. says:

This year I’m volunteering to help out at a handmade craft festival, so I decided I’m getting everyone’s gifts there. I should really work on my budget, though, or I’ll do just what you warned us about and spend too much in the heat of the moment.

  • I love the idea of giving brownies as presents! <3

It just happens that I bought a book called Brownies To Die For last week at my favorite book store. I could make those in addition to my infamous sugar cookies.

  • Jaclyn says:

    Hi Mayi
You are such a joy and inspiration for this newbie blogger/ etsy girl-thank you! I’m a pro at keeping my Christmas gift list short but this year; I’m keeping it homemade. Etched casserole dishes and homemade aprons, homemade beauty products, knit bookmarks and ipad covers. I hope they will be well received.
Wishing you a truly blessed holiday season,
    Jacki

  • Annie says:

I love your work! I just wanted to let you know that I have shared a few of your images and a link to your blog and one of your tutorials over at my blog.

Thanks for all the great tutorials you do!

  • Dominika says:

Thank you my dear Mayi :)))
I haven’t started planning for my Christmas gifts but I know some of them will get my handmade brooches, stationary with my illustrations …
    hugs and love from Dominika

  • Beth Devlin says:

This planner is SO helpful, Mayi! So much of this Christmas season is being back-burnered because my sister is having a BABY! (Sound the trumpets and joys of glee). But I still have to give Christmas presents to people. I plan on taking a few hours at one of the holiday markets here in NYC and buying some handmade jewelry or art for my best girl friends. Thanks so much, Mayi!
